CAJE Dinner A Huge Success

5TH ANNUAL CAJE DINNER DRAWS NEARLY 500 SUPPORTERS

The Colorado Agency for Jewish Education (CAJE) celebrated 30 years of Jewish learning with nearly 500 supporters at its fifth annual dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at the Seawell Ballroom of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The event honored 2003 CAJE Leader of Learning Leland S. Huttner and 2003 Spirit of CAJE recipient Ellyn Ancell Hutt, and was co-chaired by Marlin Barad and Andrea Hyatt.

Honorary dinner chairs included Sheri & Marc Rapaport, Lisa Schwartz & Richard Huttner, Cathy & Mark Huttner, Lisa & Ed Huttner, and Debra and Jerry Tepper.

The theme, “CAJE is High on Jewish Learning,” was carried throughout the evening with hot air balloons as centerpieces and a sky backdrop. Books, borrowed from CAJE’s extensive library, filled the hot air balloon baskets.

The dinner program included a CAJE tribute video, produced by Steve Feld and Imagine That Entertainment, which honored the many varied programs and services CAJE provides to Colorado. Some of the programs highlighted were the CAJE Florence Melton Adult Mini-School, CAJE Hebrew High, CAJE School Excellence Programs, CAJE Special Education Programs, CAJE Israel Study Tour, and the CAJE Library & Teacher Center. The video also recognized honoree Leland Huttner, one of the original founders of CAJE and its first board president.

Honoree Ellyn Ancell Hutt, a beloved teacher in CAJE’s Florence Melton Adult Mini-School, was recognized in a roundtable tribute by some of her former students, and then presented a “mini-class” to the dinner guests.

The fifth annual CAJE dinner committee included Dan Abrams and Sharon Pincus, Sue Ellis and Harvey Allon, Anne and Jerry Angerman, Tanya and Brad Appel, Marlin and Edward Barad, Ellen Beller, Caron Blanke and Dirk Bird, Lynn and Dennis Blum, Rabbi Stephen Booth-Nadav, Selma and Bob Cohen, Lisa and Shell Cook, Elaine Eisner, Sharon Fireman, Zelda and Gordon Friednash, Judith and Michael Frieman, Nancy and Mickey Gart, Lynn and Bill Geller, Beth and Cantor Martin Goldstein, Eileen and Rich Greenberg, Nancy Reichman and Charles Gwirtsman, Robert Hahn, Lisa and Ed Huttner, Cathy and Mark Huttner, Andrea and Jack Hyatt, Sandy and Duke Kaminsky, Marcia and Bernie Karshmer, Nancy and David Kaufman, Lee and Gene Kay, Karen and Brent Kirk, Kathleen and Robert Klugman, Jennifer and David Korman, Julie Malek and Rick Kornfeld, Patricia and Robert Lackner, Ceci and Michael Lowinger, Evi and Evan Makovsky, Estelle and Larry Meskin, Amy and Steve Morris, Joyce and Jay Moskowitz, Rae and Rick Negreann, Joe Pells, Ellen Premack, Sheri and Marc Rapaport, Dori and Bud Rifkin, David Rosenthal, Lisa and Jacques Ruda, Karyn and Rich Schad, Leslie and Mark Sidell, Lani and Bill Silvers, Teena and Bud Slatkin, Eileen and Donn Spector, Diane and Jay Taussig, Debra and Jerry Tepper, Ruth and Warren Toltz, Sandra Vinnik, and Debra and Steven Weinstein.
