Leaders of Learning Dinner
..making Jewish life sacred one child at a time

Our thanks to everyone who helped make the August 27, 2000 Leaders of Learning Dinner honoring Ardie Wandel a great success!

620 guests attended the Second Annual Leaders of Learning Dinner at the Hyatt Regency to pay tribute to Ardie Wandel’s exceptional contributions to the Denver Jewish community and to honor CAJE.

Our thanks to the Leaders of Learning Dinner Honorary Chairs, Steven and Robin Chotin, and to the Dinner Co-Chairs, Ed and Marlin Barad, Shell and Lisa Cook, Steve and Renee Leventhal, and Gerard and Sheila Rudofsky for all their hard work.

The funds generated by the Leaders of Learning Dinner will be used to help further CAJE’s mission of making Jewish life sacred through learning.  The funds will be directed toward CAJE’s many programs:  IST, Hebrew High, the Kesher Teen Fellowship Program, the Melton Adult Mini-School, the CAJE Library and Resource Center, teacher training conferences and consultations, and special education programs for Jewish children and adults.

The Colorado Agency for Jewish Education (CAJE) honored Ardie Wandel on August 27, 2000 at the downtown Hyatt Regency Hotel. CAJE’s 2nd annual Leaders of Learning Dinner honored Ardie as a leader and educator, who for the past 40 years has helped over 4000 young men and women become b’nai mitzvah.  Daniel Bennett, CAJE’s executive director said, “ Ardie is passionate about Jewish education, and he believes deeply that we all need to put our love, time, and resources into making sure that we succeed in educating our children.  For 40 years Ardie has made Jewish life in Colorado sacred the most difficult way possible—one child at a time.”

Under his patient and expert tutelage many adult learners and learners with special needs have also reached this milestone.  Mayor Webb declared August 27, 2000 as Ardie Wandel Day in Denver.  Many of CAJE’s participants in the IST 2000 tour helped welcome the guests, served hors d’oeurves, and shared their IST experience with the 620 guests.

As part of the celebration, CAJE premiered a video, produced by Steve Feld that showcased the 29-year-old agency.  Rose Medical Center underwrote the production costs of the video.  An additional video produced by Alik Vatikay highlighted Ardie’s life and achievements.
