Shalom and welcome to the CAJE Israel Study Tour 2005. IST, recognized
nationally as a premier Israel experience for teens, is a program of CAJE
and our partners, the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, the Rocky
Mountain Rabbinical Council, and local synagogues. The trip is open to
Jewish high school students throughout Colorado who have completed their
junior year of high school.
The CAJE IST has sent more than 1,700 Jewish teens to Israel since 1971.
CAJE IST staff work closely with tour providers to offer the best Jewish
teen travel experience. “We are so proud to continue the Colorado Agency for
Jewish Education’s strong tradition of connecting teens to their homeland
through personal and group experiences in Israel. Nothing is more exciting
than seeing teens transformed through CAJE IST into truly committed and
knowledgeable young Jewish adults,” explains Daniel Bennett, CAJE executive
director.
For 2005, the trip includes an extraordinary opportunity for the teens to
spend one week in Poland, designed to encourage the participants to explore
Jewish history, roots and heritage in order to understand and identify with
their past. The week in Poland is followed by 5 weeks touring throughout
Israel. In addition to visiting tourist sites, the teens participate in
community service opportunities such as a bike ride benefiting an ALYN
Hospital. Participants can tailor their tour to their own interests by
selecting a three-day option from a menu including an army simulation
experience, a sea-to-sea hike, and a community service project.
The trip is staffed by an American educator and counselors as well as
Israeli staff based in Israel.
“CAJE IST is one of those watershed experiences for the students – the
kind that combines personal growth, cultural exploration, and amazing
relationships in an unforgettable and magical way,” adds Youth Director and
Trip Educator, Dr. Steven Glickman.
