ISRAEL STUDY TOUR

It begins: Israel Study Tour (IST) is CAJE’s nationally acclaimed summer
trip to Israel for teens following their junior year in high school. In the
summer of 2003, 36 students from Denver and Boulder traveled to Israel for
the best summer and experience of their life. Their amazing adventure which
began with a one week tour of post-Holocaust Poland. In Poland the students
took part in an unforgettable journey through the land of a lost generation
of Jews and had their view of Judaism and of the world change forever.
From sunrise at Masada to sunset at the Kotel, nobody creates an Israel
experience like the Colorado Agency for Jewish Education (CAJE). CAJE IST is
not just another vacation. Even if you have been on a family trip to Israel,
IST provides a magical blend of new friendships, personal explorations and a
sense of community. It is an experience that you will remember forever.
All Colorado Jewish students entering the 11th grade are eligible to
participate on CAJE IST. Students prepare for the trip by learning about
Israel's history and culture. The process begins at Hebrew High and
continues long after the summer is over. In addition to formal classes,
group-building activities and multicultural encounters help teens to form
long-lasting friendships.
College credit for CAJE IST is available through Gratz College in
Philadelphis!
Why is this trip different than most other trips?
Unlike most teen trips to Israel, IST is one of the very few trips
that has as much focus on the pre and post trip experiences than just the
5 weeks in Israel. As an IST’er you will spend a year studying with the
people who you will travel to Israel with. You will get to know them long
before you get on the plane and can develop friendships throughout the
year. And when you come back all of your old and new friends will be
within driving distance. We have our first reunion a month after we return
from Israel and another one six months later. Few trips can provide you
with this type of experience before, during and after your trip to Israel.
